  • Overview


    Primary role is to provide customer service at our Hub locations.  This includes overall location sales support, phone sales, order processing and assist in the merchandising, pricing and promotional sales. Provides customers with product information and features.   Report to Regional General Manager, interacts with customers, sales, management and other operations personnel.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1. Assist customers over the phone and on the computer, with the processing of orders, assisting with quotes, collection on accounts and in processing accounts payable.
    2. Follow up on leads, and assist in development of industrial, commercial and residential customer sales.
    3. Merchandising, stocking, maintaining inventory levels and pricing responsibility and will assist with special sales and promotions.
    4. Learn product line and be able to explain product benefits and features to customers.
    5. To organize work, problem solve, and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
    6. Provide excellent customer service in a fast paced environment.
    7. Assist outside sales personnel on an ongoing basis, which may include sales calls, quotes and providing other information.
    8. Provide supervisory and team leadership on an occasional basis when site management is absent.
    9. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

    LOCATION AND HOURS OF WORK Typical hours for this position are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and some Saturday hours at Matheson's retail branches. This is a full-time position.

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.     • Ability to use personal computer (email, word & excel) to input data and process information and to master job specific software (mainframe computer).
    • Ability to work safely and comply with all safety rules and standards.
    • Basic math skills; ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Good organizational and communications skills.
    • Valid driver's license, a CDL is a plus.

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Two (2) to five (5) years of Customer Service and Counter Sales experience, including collections, billing and customer account management.
