  • Overview


    Operates power driven pumps that transfer gases to the appropriate cylinders by performing the following duties.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


    • ·         Fills cylinders with a variety of gases with pumping equipment.


    • ·         Observes pressure gauges and flowmeters, and adjusts valves to regulate speed of pumps and control pressure and rate of flow of materials.


    • ·         Inspects cylinders before filling for defects.


    • ·         Tests medical gas cylinders for purity.


    • ·         Transfers cylinders to and from filling cages, trucks, and storage areas.


    • ·         Maintains pumps and lines by replacing filters and gaskets, tightening connections, and adjusting pumps.


    • ·         Connects pipelines between pumps and cylinders being filled or emptied.


    • ·         Records quantity of item pumped into computer.


    • ·         Inventories contents of storage tank.


    • ·         Assists with semi-annual inventories.


    • ·         Loads and unloads trucks.


    • ·         Helps out in the warehouse when needed.


    LOCATION AND HOURS OF WORK  Typical hours for this position are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and some Saturday hours at Tyler, TX site.  This is a full-time position.



    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    • ·         High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 
    • ·         One to three months related experience and/or training; or
    • ·         Equivalent combination of education and experience.



    • ·         Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

    • ·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (e.g. inspecting cylinders), distance vision, color vision (e.g. colors of cylinders), depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    • ·         The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (e.g. warehouse).

    • ·         Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.
    • ·         Knowledge of the different types of cylinders and gases.
    • ·         General knowledge of computers.
    • ·         Ability to use small hand tools.
