    POSITION SUMMARY

    Responsible for all aspects of bulk gas sales handling  Government and Municipality market segments for all liquid and tube trailer helium, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, liquid carbon dioxide, related distribution and application equipment. The position is also responsible for maintaining and renewing small bulk accounts throughout the West Zone along with customer service, which includes maintaining current customers as well as developing new customers.

     

    Manages sales campaigns with the intent of either scheduling appointments for sales to improve sales productivity or by gaining business via direct quote/follow up. Assesses customer satisfaction with MTG products and services via conducting surveys and provides insights for addressing customer concerns. Works closely with SBU Sales Leaders, Sales, Corporate Marketing and Customer Service. This position reports to the Zone Vice President and Region Bulk Gas Sales Managers. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1. Place outbound calls with the prime purpose of scheduling appointments for sales with new or existing customers, notifying sales of committed appointment times and then following up with a courtesy call to determine customer satisfaction/needs.
    2. Prospect for new business opportunities.
    3. Provides quotes or completes the sale, if campaign appropriate to directly gain new business.
    4. Probes and identifies problematic situations/opportunities that could protect or yield new business for MTG and communicates the information to the appropriate function for follow up.
    5. Drive profitable growth of the territory business.
    6. Manage existing business portfolio to maximize gross profit.
    7. Manages requests for products, price and technical information.
    8. Provide first line product and application support to customers and prospects.
    9. Report sales activity timely to sales management.
    10. Identifies sources of leads and manages the pre-qualification process in collaboration with sales and corporate marketing.
    11. Tracks result of outbound campaign efforts.
    12. Coordinate and manage communication and support between Customer and MTG.
    13. Identify package gas opportunities and hand-off to package counterpart.
    14. Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed. Maintain high level of personal safety performance and regulatory compliance.
    15. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
    16. Identify on site & pipeline opportunities and hand-off to On-Site Sales counterpart.
    17. Support collections process as required.
    18. Perform site surveys for new installations.
    19. Value based selling skill set.
    20. Price attainment initiatives.
    21. Light work with territory travel 10-15% within the West Zone while residing in the Irwindale office as home base.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Required Skills: 

    Computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

     

    Required Experience:  

    • BS Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred) or Business Administration
    • BS Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred) or Business Administration
    • Conceptual understanding of industrial gas products, production, distribution, equipment and applications
    • One or more years of industrial gases sales or operations
    • One or more years of industrial sales experience
    • Knowledge/Interest of basic chemistry and processes
    • Microsoft CRM Solutions a plus
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to establish and manage customer relationships
    • Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
    • Ability to learn MTG’s business/product types/organization/transaction systems
    • Excellent Telephone Communications Skills
    • Excellent Organizational Skills

    Years Of Experience: 

    • 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing selling, industrial gas preferred

    Level of Education:

    • Bachelor degree in Technical field or Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
