  • Overview

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

    1. Reports to Plant Manager
    2. Receives, tests, releases for use, and unloads Ammonium Nitrate solution from railcars or trailers.
    3. Monitors, records, and maintains the operation of a nitrous oxide production facility with in Standards of Control
    4. Troubleshoots and corrects production conditions that are outside of the Standards of Control
    5. Collects product samples from storage tanks
    6. Uses validated analytical methods and gas chromatography to determine product conformance to written standards
    7. Compiles batch production records, performs tests, and prepares Storage Tank Conformance Reports
    8. Releases Conformed storage tanks for use following review by Quality Control
    9. Samples returned bulk trailers for suitability to standards and releases trailers for reloading
    10. Reports non-conforming trailer to plant manager
    11. Loads bulk trailers
    12. Takes samples, performs tests, and prepares Certificates of Analysis for loaded trailers.
    13. Releases trailers for distribution following review by Quality Control
    14. Performs scrubber solution maintenance and documents action
    15. Performs dryer maintenance and documents action
    16. Receives chemicals, parts and components, in accordance to published procedures
    17. Demonstrates ability to start up the plant and to shut down the plant under normal and emergency conditions
    18. Assists in plant maintenance
    19. Assists in development of operating procedures
    20. Maintains personal compliance with FDA, DOT, OSHA EPA and other governmental regulations
    21. Complies with Matheson’s Medical Procedures; Safety Procedures and Environmental Procedures
    22. Receives customer complaints and begins response process
    23. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Must be able to perform mathematical exercises of moderate complexity

    • Ability to determine cause and effect in plant operation
    • Experience in plant operation and industrial environment
    • Knowledge of instruments and test equipment
    • Basic computer skills



    • Moderate work
    • Climbing, stooping, turning and lifting up to I 00 lbs. possible
    • May be required to work in inclement weather
    • May be required to spend a great deal of time on his/her feet
    • May be required to wear respirator
    • May be required to work shifts
    • May be required to work alone on weekends and on back shifts
